چکیده

Global warming causes drought in some area and simultaneously fl oods in other areas (IPCC, 2001). Such climate changes lead to excess and poor salt concentrations in soil in the corresponding areas, respectively. Zahran (2001) reports serious effects on microfl ora including rhizobia because of salt concentrations in soil. Salt content in soil also strongly affects plant growth and productivity. Alteration of the soil microfl ora and the plant physiological condition may result in frequent infection by phytopathogens. Therefore, it is worthwhile to study more about the response of phytopathogenic and symbiotic microorganisms to salts in order to control diseases and improve crop yields. Crown gall and hairy root diseases are caused by Agrobacterium species harboring a Ti plasmid and J. Gen. Appl. Microbiol., 55, 35‒41 (2009)

Evaluation of a modified salt-out method for DNA extraction from whole blood lymphocytes: A simple and economical method for gene polymorphism

Extraction of high-quality and-quantity DNA is a fundamental requirement for genetic research. It is very important to address the use of DNA extraction methods that are simple and cost-effective in gene polymorphism with large number of samples. This study was designed to investigate the optimal DNA extraction from lymphocytic cells by salt-out method. In this study, 200 blood samples of the t...

A revision of Rhizobium Frank 1889, with an emended description of the genus, and the inclusion of all species of Agrobacterium Conn 1942 and Allorhizobium undicola de Lajudie et al. 1998 as new combinations: Rhizobium radiobacter, R. rhizogenes, R. rubi, R. undicola and R. vitis.

Rhizobium, Agrobacterium and Allorhizobium are genera within the bacterial family Rhizobiaceae, together with Sinorhizobium. The species of Agrobacterium, Agrobacterium tumefaciens (syn. Agrobacterium radiobacter), Agrobacterium rhizogenes, Agrobacterium rubi and Agrobacterium vitis, together with Allorhizobium undicola, form a monophyletic group with all Rhizobium species, based on comparative...

Apoptotic Induction in Human Colorectal Adenocarcinoma Cell Line and Growth Inhibition of Some Gastrointestinal Pathogenic Species by Lactobacillus Sakei Metabolites

Background and Aim: Lactobacillus is the most important genus of lactic acid bacteria and the use of some species of lactobacillus with the probiotic potential can be effective for inhibition of the growth of some pathogens and control of  gastrointestinal diseases and cancers. In this study, the pro-apoptotic and antimicrobial effect of Lactobacillus sakei on human colorectal adenocarcinoma c...

The Prevalence of Campylobacter, Listeria and Salmonella Species in Freshwater and Salt-Water Fish

A total of 154 samples of marine (n=51) and freshwater fish (n=103) were obtained from fish markets in Elazig Province of eastern Turkey. These samples were tested for Campylobacter, Listeria and Salmonella using culturing and biochemical methods. Campylobacter failed to be detected in any freshwater or marine fish samples. Listeria was detected in 22 and 14 of gill and skin samples from freshw...

Catheter infection caused by an unusual pathogen, Agrobacterium radiobacter.

The genus Agrobacterium is composed of several phytopathogenic species occurring worldwide in soils. One nontumorigenic species, Agrobacterium radiobacter, has occasionally been isolated from clinical specimens, but its pathogenic role in these cases has been difficult to ascertain since agrobacteria are usually isolated in association with other bacteria. We report the case of a central venous...
